SALEM- The third annual Gingerbread Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Salem High School Cafeteria. The free event is open to Salem children ages 3 to 13.
In addition to a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, the event will include a stroll down Candy Cane Lane, a gingerbread house craft, a story at the Gum Drop Library and a movie in Frosty's Funtime Theatre. There will also be a snack, face painting and a post office drop. Registration is required. To register visit www.gingerbreadday.org or call the Gingerbread Hotline at 330-337-0621. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Coordinated by parents Glory Zamarelli and Lisa Bezon, the event is funded sole through donations through the Salem Community Foundation. Monetary donations for the event are still be accepted by the foundation, according to Zamarelli.
Last year the event hosted nearly 350 children, a number Zamarelli said the coordinators are hoping to top this year.
"It's a fun way to get the community together to start the season," she said.
