Supper, sermon set at Greenford Church

GREENFORD- Under the general theme of "Supper And A Sermon," the congregation and friends of Greenford Evangelical Lutheran Church will gather for a time of mid-week fellowship and worship on three Wednesday evenings during December. The supper component of the gathering will begin at 6:15 p.m., at which time all those gathered will feast on and fellowship around a carry-in supper. Then at 7 p.m., all will assemble in the Sanctuary for a brief service of worship. The worship component will center on the beautiful "Evensong" by Marty Haugen. Dr. Michael Bennett, the congregation's interim pastor, will present a series of sermons under the following themes: Dec. 12, "The Revelation Of The Eternal Son Of God"; Dec. 19, "Lord Jesus, Come To Me."

Salem Wesleyan Methodist plans nativity

SALEM- The Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1095 Newgarden Ave., will host a live nativity from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14. The event will feature live animals, caroling and hot cocoa and cookies, as well as Christmas readings.

First Friends Church to host 'Grinch'

SALEM- First Friends Church, 1028 Jennings Ave., will host the production "How the Grinch Almost Stole Christmas," at 7 p.m. Sunday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with refreshments and the Elegance String Quartet. The event is free and no tickets are required. For information call 330-332-0001.

Pancake breakfast set at Zion Hill Church

COLUMBIANA- The Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, 14550 New Buffalo Road, will host a Community Pancake Breakfast from 9 to 10 a.m. Dec. 16. Breakfast offered at North Benton church

NORTH BENTON - The public is invited to an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. today at the North Benton Presbyterian Church. Cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 6 to 12.

Mission Connection Cookie Walk set today

SALEM - The public is invited to the Mission Connection Cookie Walk from 9 a.m. to noon today at the First Friends Church, 1028 Jennings Ave. A variety of cookies will be available at $4 per dozen. Proceeds will benefit the Ladies Mission Connection and missionaries.

Cookie sale planned North Lima church

NORTH LIMA - The Calvary United Methodist Church of North Lima will hold its annual cookie sale from 10 a.m. to noon today. Homemade cookies, candies, etc. will be available for you to pack your box. Damascus church host craft show today

DAMASCUS - The Damascus United Methodist Church will host its "Christmas Home and Craft Show and Bake Sale" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the church, 300 Valley Road. Homemade soup, sandwiches and desserts will be served from noon to 3 p.m. at the lunch counter. Proceeds will benefit the Methodist Mission Trip Team. The Damascus United Methodist Women will hold a bake sale plus have a free "make and take" craft from noon to 4 p.m.

The church is located 1/4 mile south of Damascus. Available at the craft show will be a schedule of events taking place that day to celebrate "Light Up Damascus" with a lighting ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the park in front of the Friends Church. Live nativity set at Salem Wesleyan

SALEM - A live nativity is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14 at the Salem Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1095 Newgarden Ave. Christmas readings will be presented every half hour. Hot cocoa and cookies will be served.

Alliance church sponsors March for Life bus

ALLIANCE - The Alliance First Friends Church is sponsoring a chartered bus to the 40th annual March for Life to be held Jan. 25, 2013, in Washington, D.C. The initial pick-up point will be at the church at 11:30 p.m. Jan. 24. The bus will travel to Damascus to pick up more riders at 11:55 p.m. The expected return time is 2 a.m. Jan. 26. An additional pick-up point may be added in Waynesburg and Columbiana, if there is enough interest from those areas.

Reservations include the bus trip, a DC metro ticket, and dinner. Adult reservations are $65; $55 for ages 12 to 20) and senior citizen (over 60); and $50 for 11 and under). No bus seats will be reserved without full payment. The reservation deadline is Jan. 7.

Boardman church accepts food donations

BOARDMAN-Disciples Christian Church at 565 Boardman-Canfield Road is teaming up with WFMJ to feed the Valley's hungry. The church is currently accepting food donations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and by appointment Monday through Friday. As part of its "Journey to Bethlehem" and live nativity from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15, the church is encouraging attendees to bring non-perishable food items for admission to the event. Nativity display set at Villa Maria center

VILLA MARIA, Pa. - The 7th annual Nativity Display sponsored by Humility of Mary Sisters featuring more than 260 nativity sets from around the world is being held from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9 at Villa Maria Community Center, Villa Maria, Pa. A full course spaghetti dinner will be served from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday costing $6.25 for a large dinner and $5.75 for a smaller portion. Children under 7 eat for free.

Special Christmas performances are planned, free of charge, including harpist Kirk Kupensky on Saturday. Performances Sunday feature Humility of Mary violinists, Sisters Paulette Kirchensteiner and Toby Lardie; the New Bedford Presbyterian Church Choir; Seraphim Choir; and the Shenango Area High School Choir.
