County students to bring change for kids in need
COLUMBIANA - Columbiana County students will be bringing in the nickels, dimes and quarters they have collected to help children in need who don't have health insurance for today's fourth annual "Koins for Kids" charitable campaign at Das Dutch Village Inn. This year's event, sponsored by Handel's Inc., benefits Akron Children's Hospital. The inn is designated as the official county drop-off location as well as the host site for the WKBN radio-thon from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the lobby.
WKBN talk-show hosts Mike Romigh, Ron Verb and Dan Rivers will be at the inn for live remote radio broadcasts of their 6 and 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. talk shows. Along with the inn, additional sponsors for the radio-thon include Das Dutch Haus restaurant, Dutch Cupboard, Witmer's Inc., Whispering Pines Assisted and Independent Living and the Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau. SALEM - The Second Harvest Food Bank distribution is slated from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church on the corner of Seacrist and Middletown roads.

New owners want new name for Salem Care Center
SALEM - The Salem Care Center is under new ownership and management and is sponsoring a "new name" contest. The company is currently undergoing renovations, substantially increasing its number of private rooms, creating a state-of-the-art therapy gym, and an elegant dining room to further enhance the lives of its residents and create a home-like atmosphere. Since it is a community rehab center, management believes the community should share in the fun of re-naming the center.
