WELLSBURG - The Beavers swam past the Bruins and the Big Reds.
The Beaver Local boys' and girls' swim teams earned a sweep in a tri-meet Monday at Brooke. On the boys' side, Beaver Local finished with 93 points, Brooke placed second with 72 points and Bellaire ended up third with 29 points. On the girls' side, the Beavers finished first with 107 points, the Bruins placed second with 83 points and the Big Reds ended up third with 29 points.
Individually for the boys, David Lorah finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:17.89), Jason Lorah finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:18.32).
Beaver Local also finished first in the 200 freestyle relay (1:46.22). The Beavers' foursome was made up of Hayden Moore, Troy Kotsch, Justin Maurer and Jason Lorah. That foursome also teamed together to win the 400 freestyle relay (4:40.16).
Individually for the girls, Kami Snow finished first in the 50 freestyle (30.92), and Laura Keenan finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.24).
Beaver Local also finished first in the 200 freestyle relay (2:01.17). The winning team was made up of Aly Ammon, Claire Meredith, Snow and Keenan.
The 200 medley relay team of Snow, Meredith, Ammon and Miranda Turkovich finished with a time of 2:21.12.
Beaver Local's next meet is Thursday at John Marshall. Beaver Local will swim against East Liverpool and Martins Ferry Friday at home.
