Christmas service scheduled

at the Salem Bible Church

SALEM - A special Christmas service begins at 7 p.m. Sunday at Salem Bible Church, 807 Cunningham Road.

All are welcome. The choir will present special music, along with congregational singing, and a sermon on the incarnation of Christ.

Calla Community Church

will hold candlelight service

CANFIELD - Calla Community Church at 6482 W. Calla Road will hold a traditional candlelight Christmas Eve service.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m., violinist John Vagas will perform both Christmas and classical music.

His music is a gift to Calla Church from member, Dale Rhinehart. He has provided these beautiful sounds in memory of his mother for several years.

At 7 p.m., the service will start, led by the Rev. James Houston. Communion will be given and is open to all.

An offering will be taken and given to a member of the community and to the Wounded Heroes Veterans Program.

Senior Choir and Bell Choir

will perform Christmas cantata

SALEM - The Senior Choir and Bell Choir of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 291 S. Broadway Ave., will perform its Christmas cantata during the worship services at 6:30 p.m. today and at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Pastor Alan Smearsoll created the narration and arranged this year's cantata, titled Evangelizoma, which is a Greek word meaning, "I bring good news."

The poems were written by Karen Rodgers.

Tom Drotleff is the senior choir director and Ila Jeanne Paxson is the organist and bell choir director. The public is invited.

Columbiana Nazarene Church

presenting 'Peace, Hope and Joy'

COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Nazarene Church at 330 N. Elm will present its annual cantata titled, "Peace, Hope and Joy" at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Refreshments will precede the service from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

A Christmas Eve service begins at 7 p.m. The public is invited to both events.

Community pancake breakfast

planned at Zion Hill Church

COLUMBIANA - A community pancake breakfast will be served from 9 to 10 a.m. Sunday at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, 14550 New Buffalo Road.

The Christmas Advent service follows at 10:30 a.m.

Breakfast buffet offered at the

North Lima Mennonite Church

NORTH LIMA - An all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will be available from 7 to 10 a.m. Dec. 29 at the North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive. Donations will be accepted.

Items on the buffet include eggs, pancakes, french toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and onions, coffee, orange juice, and other beverages.

Messiah Choir will perform

today at Main Street Theater

COLUMBIANA - The Messiah Choir will perform at 7 p.m. Dec. 22 at Main Street Theater, 5 N. Main St.

The event is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be donated to Crown Theater Productions and its ministry.

The expenses of the holiday concert are underwritten by the Columbiana Community Foundation. Doors open one hour before the show.

Under the direction of Randy Hart, the 30-member choir will perform selections from Handel's "Messiah" and other holiday music. Solists are Sarah Vodrey, Sally Bricker, Peggy Elliott, Barbara Bailey and Andrew Lawlor. Accompanist is Joe McKim.

The Parker Brothers and Lacey

will perform at Haven of Rest

EAST PALESTINE - The Parker Brothers and Lacey will be in concert 11 a.m. Sunday at God's Haven of Rest, 51966, state Route 14.

The group, comprised of Andy, Daniel, Travis and Lacey Parker, began singing and playing their own music at a very young age over 18 years ago.

Travis Parker will return in concert 6 p.m. Dec. 23 at God's Haven of Rest. All are welcome. For more information call 330-397-1284.

Year's Eve Victory Gospel Jubilee

NORTH LIMA - Free tickets are available for the New Year's Eve Victory Gospel Jubilee to be held on Dec. 31 at the North Lima Business Complex Auditorium.

National southern gospel artist Jerry Garcia will be the headliner for the evening of music hosted by the Golden Street Singers. Also on the program will be the Stillwater trio.

Garcia, who has been in the music ministry since he sang his first song in church as a young boy, performs hundreds of concerts each year, sings on gospel cruises and has appeared at the National Quartet Convention. Garcia and his wife, Sarah, share a special ministry of love to children with severe, even terminal illness.

Stillwater members Ed and Ed Woodard have been singing in groups for more than 30 years. They are joined by lead singer Enola Grovesteen. The Golden Street Singers have hosted all of the Victory Gospel Jubilees.

A buffet dinner by the Hen House Cafe will be available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $12. Singing begins at 7 p.m. Reservations for dinner can be made when you order your free tickets.

Several door prizes will be awarded, including a weekend at Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania. To order tickets call 800-284-9709.

Films, Goodness Grows

benefit planned for January

NORTH LIMA - Two films and a Goodness Grows benefit are scheduled in January at the Common Ground Church, 2310 W. South Range Road.

The "What's 'Organic' about Organic?" film starts at 6 p.m. Jan. 19. Elsa Higby will speak about the Rodale Institute's agriculture supported community training.

The "Coal Country" film begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 26. Julia Fuhrman Davis will offer simple ways to reduce fossil fuel use.

The benefit is slated from 5 to 10 p.m. Jan. 12 at Glenwood Christian Fellowship Cafe, 7872 Glenwood Ave., Boardman.

The menu for this dinner and coffee shop night includes soup, sandwiches, paninis, hot and cold drinks, all sourced locally by Kathryn Hatch of The Zaney Pearl. Information is available at www.goodnessgrows4all.org and 330-549-9408.

Food distribution planned

at Winona Friends Church

WINONA - A food distribution is slated from 10 a.m. to noon today at Winona Friends Church, 4615 Whinnery Road.
