New Year's Eve dance
SALEM - A dance will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on New Year's Eve at AMVETS Post 45. Admission is free to members and $5 for non-members. Music will be provided by Uptown Saturday Night.
Monopoly game tournament set at Salem Library Jan. 12, 19
SALEM - Salem Public Library will host a Monopoly game tournament on Jan. 12 and 19in the Quaker meeting room at 821 E. State St. The public, ages 12 and up, are invited. Prizes will be awarded to first and second-place winners. Registration is required and begins Dec. 22. The registration deadline is Jan. 7. Winter session for Future
Fitness Club to open Jan. 7
SALEM - The Salem Community Center is introducing the winter session of Future Fitness Club. The club is a Kohl'sCares sponsorship program that is designed and promoted through Akron Children's Hospital. The second session of the club is scheduled to begin Jan. 7. This six-week program meets from 6 to 7 p.m. every Monday and Thursday through Feb. 14. Boys and girls ages 8-13 are welcome to join. Cost is $22 per child. Committee to meet Jan. 7
COLUMBIANA - The Restoration, Renovation, and Beautification Committee of Columbiana will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Columbiana Womens Club. The committee is seeking new members for its work for the coming year. Interested parties from Columbiana and the surrounding areas are invited to attend. The committee's previous projects have included the renovation of the the town square and the installation of the new Columbiana sign on Route 14.
Columbiana announces 'Get Your Glow on' winners
COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of its "Get Your Glow on" lighting contest. The $50 prizes were awarded to East Park Veterinary Clinic for the best traditional holiday decor and to Savvy Chic Consignment Boutique for the best non-traditional holiday decor.

SALEM - National Rifle Association certified instructors are teaching a concealed carry class on Jan. 12 at the Salem Hunting Club. Interesting and informative class room material, a range experience with emphasis on basic fundamental marksmanship skills and firearm safety designed to build confidence on the range are provided. Salem Historical Society offices closed Monday; gift shop open
SALEM?- The offices of the Salem Historical Society will be closed on Monday, December 24, but the gift shop will be open 9 to noon on Monday for last minute shopping of Salem items, including the 2013 Salem Calendar featuring local gas stations.. Entrance is in the lower level of the Dale Shaffer Library at 239 South Lundy. The offices will reopen on Wednesday, following Christmas. If there are questions, contact 330-337-8514.
