SHS '72 to meet for breakfast

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1972 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Jan. 5 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

BLHS '84 to hold spaghetti dinner benefit

LISBON - The Beaver Local High School Class of 1984 will hold a spaghetti dinner benefit for Chuck Cornell and his family. The public is invited from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 12 at the high school. The Cornell family lost their home on Dec. 18 in a fire. There also will be a silent and Chinese auction. Anyone wishing to donate a basket or silent auction items is asked to contact Marcie Guy at 330-801-2597 or by email at Monetary donations may be sent to: First National Community Bank, P.O. Box 769, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920; checks payable to BLHS Class of 1984.

Friendly Squares hold Christmas party

NILES - On Dec. 19 the Friendly Squares of Niles held its annual Christmas dinner dance. In attendance were 80 dancers. Some of the dancers came as far away as the counties of Lake, Cuyahoga. Medina, Portage. They were also some dancers from Salem and Pennsylvania. The evening began with a coverdish dinner. After the dinner the dancing began with caller Gene Hammond calling the dance. Frankie Hammond was the line dance cuer for the evening. For more information about the club call 330-534-4426.

Winona Ruritans host Christmas dinner

WINONA - "Happy Birthday" was sung to Lester Wilson, Richard Stoffer, Donovan Winn, Chris Stamp and Lee Stamp at the Winona Ruritan Club's annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 18 at the Winona Friends Church. Twenty-nine members and 27 guests attended. Two guests, Celeste Gamble and Dorothy Stoffer, were also recognized for having birthdays in December. Chaplain Gordon Dawes asked the following, newly elected officers and directors for 2013 to be officially inducted into office: Dean Sidwell, three year director; Rob Donaldson, two-year director; Chip Althouse, one-year director; Bob Doyle Sr., treasurer; Lee Stamp, secretary; John Stamp, vice president; and Homer Althouse, president. Entertainment was provided by The Belles of Harmony.

BOARDMAN - Divorce/Death Aren't Really the End is a singles group that meets at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday at the Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road. The following activities are planned next month:

Jan. 4, 25: Lobby of Movies 8, Shops of Boardman Park, 6:30 p.m.

Jan. 8, 15, 22: Dance classes, Judy Conti's, Austintown, 7 p.m.

Jan. 9: Volunteer at Second Harvest Food Bank, 5-7 p.m.

Jan. 11: Card night at Denny's in Boardman, 6-10 p.m.

Jan. 12: Bowling at Boardman Lanes, 7:30 p.m.

Jan. 14: Meet-up at Mocha House in Boardman, 7 p.m.

Jan. 19: Phantom Hockey Game, Covelli Center, ticket booth, 7 p.m.

Jan. 24: Re-gifting night at the church, 7:30 p.m.

Jan. 26: Winter picnic, Boardman Park, Beard Cabin, 6-10 p.m.

Jan. 28: Meet-up at Dairy Queen in Cornersburg, 7 p.m.

Jan. 31: Chili cook off at the church, 7:30 p.m.
