Salem Historical Society concludes membership drive during anniversary year

December 30, 2012
Salem News

The Salem Historical Society is celebrating its 65th anniversary, having been founded in 1947. In commemorating this event, the society had a goal of securing 65 new members during the year. Joan Lora, membership chair, was busy registering new members with a copy of the bicentennial issue of "The Salem Story Continues" as a gift along with the one-year membership. Emma Kelly, a Southeast School fifth grader, became the youngest "new" member, while Pastor Connie Sassanella, minister of the English Lutheran Church, became the 65th new member. With gift memberships being given during the Christmas season and one annual member, Angela Habig, upping to a life member, the "new" membership during 2012 currently is at 82. Others are welcome to join. For membership information call 330-337-8514 or visit the gift shop at 239 S. Lundy Ave. any Monday, Wednesday or Thursday morning.
