John D. Shivers, III

ALLIANCE -?John David Shivers, III, 21, of Canton, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at his home.

Born on March 1, 1991 in Salem, Ohio, he lived in Alliance most of his life. He was a member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church and had served as altar server and lector.

John was a 2009 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where he was a 4-year letter winner with the swimming team. He was also a one-year letter winner on the track team. John was especially passionate about acting. He was St. Thomas' first student to receive a 4- year acting award. Along with his love of acting, John also enjoyed music and playing his guitar.

He was a member of St. Thomas Key Club and was class president in his senior year. He was a student representative with the Canton Repository Student of the Month, and served as president of that multi-school organization.

John was active with Boy Scout Troop 101, where he had earned his Eagle Rank. He enjoyed backpacking and wilderness hiking, completing a Philmont Trek in 2006.

Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Christine and Rick L. Robenstine, OD of Alliance, OH; his father, John D. Shivers, Jr. of Salem; sisters, Sarah Shivers and her fiance, Michael Kuck, of Melbourne, FL, Carolyn Shivers of Nashville, TN and Rachel Shivers of Alliance, OH; Julie (Billy) Magnus of Buford, GA; Sarah (David) Binkley of Canton, OH, Kathryn (Michael) Gentry of Winston-Salem, NC; Elizabeth (Ben) Saxton of Canton, OH; brother, Richard Robenstine of Columbus, OH; his maternal grandparents, Pete and Jane (Brunett) Burns of Canton, OH; four nieces, one nephew and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, John Sr. and Margaret (Vietmeier) Shivers.

We, his survivors, will be forever enriched from knowing him. John brought great joy and laughter into the lives of everyone he touched. He will be sadly missed.

The family will receive friends at St. Thomas Aquinas High School from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 733 Fernwood Boulevard, Alliance, OH 44601, at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4 with Rev. Fr. Thomas Dyer and Rev. Robert Edwards, as con-celebrants. Interment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas High School Alumni Association, 2121 Reno Drive, Louisville, OH 44641.
