Volunteers needed to assist Beaver Creek Wildlife Ed Ctr.

EAST LIVERPOOL - Volunteers are needed at the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center.

To prepare current and new volunteers for the season opening on May 4, Curator Jim Kerr will conduct volunteer training sessions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today and 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the center.

Additional sessions will be available at later dates. For more information call Kerr at 330-301-0019.

All-you-can-eat fish fry will be held at American Legion

COLUMBIANA - An all-you-can-eat fish fry will be available from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 18 at American Legion Post 290. Cost is $10 for adults and $4 for children.

Salem VFW's kitchen will be open to public on Saturday

SALEM - The kitchen will be open to the public from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892, 496 Arch St.

This week's special is a stuffed pepper meal with green beans, mashed potatoes with tomato gravy and bread for $5. Additional items on the menu will also be available.

All-you-can-eat breakfast will be served by Salineville Kiwanis

SALINEVILLE - An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Kiwanis Building.

Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Carryouts are available.

Leetonia High Class of 1943 will meet for lunch Monday

LEETONIA The Leetonia High School Class of 1943 plans to meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Das Dutch Haus in Columbiana. All classes are welcome.

County Firefighters Association will meet in Lisbon on Jan. 16

LISBON - The Columbiana County Firefighters Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department.

Columbiana High School will host financial aid night

COLUMBIANA - Columbiana High School will host a financial aid night at 6 p.m. Jan. 16 in the high school auditorium.

The event will include a presentation by Youngstown State University financial aid advisor Sandy Torres.

All juniors and seniors from the Columbiana, Crestview and Leetonia school districts, along with their parents, are encouraged to attend.

Torres will discuss and answer questions concerning completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Refreshments will be served in the high school commons following the event.

Help Hotline Crisis Center's Survivors of Suicide will meet

LISBON - Help Hotline Crisis Center's support group of the survivors of suicide will meet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Columbiana County Counseling Center on Route 154.

First United Methodist Church serving 'drive by chicken dinner'

LEETONIA - A "drive by chicken dinner" is available from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 17, or until sold out, at the Leetonia First United Methodist Church, 50 Lisbon St.

The meal consists of a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7.

Those interested are asked to drive up, place an order and your dinner/dinners will be brought out to your car. All proceeds are used to update and repair the foyer of the church.

Leetonia Class of 1962 will meet for breakfast on Jan. 18

LEETONIA- The Leetonia High School Class of 1962 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Jan. 18 at Das Dutch Haus.

Columbiana Boosters will sponsor dinner on Jan. 18

COLUMBIANA - Columbiana Athletic Boosters will sponsor a pasta dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in the High School Commons.

Cost is $8 for adults, $7 for senior citizens and students and $5 for children under 5. Carryouts are available.

Outlaws With Attitude 4-H Club will meet on Jan. 20

LISBON - The OutLaws With Attitude 4-H Club plans to meet at 3 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Community Action Agency at Lincole Place.

SALEM - AAA Driving School will hold classes from 3 to 6 p.m., beginning Jan. 22, at Salem High School.

SALEM - Quota International of Salem has scheduled a special meeting for Makeover Mania to begin at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 at the clubhouse.

Columbiana Chamber planning Winter Business Showcase

COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce invites residents and business owners to attend its Winter Business Showcase on Jan. 24 at The Links Banquet Center.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with refreshments, networking and brief presentations by five Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce members.

There is no charge to chamber members and a $5 charge to prospective members. For additional information call the chamber office at 330-482-3822. Reservations are not required.

Joint reorganizational meeting will be held in Green Twp.

GREEN TOWNSHIP - Green Township Board and Zoning Board of Appeals will conduct a joint reorganizational meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Green Township Administration Building/Community Center. The public is invited.

Area students will attend presidential inauguration

LISBON - The Gifted Office of the Columbiana County Educational Service Center has announced that 25 students from Columbiana County high schools will be in attendance at the public presidential inauguration ceremony of President Barack Obama who will begin his second term as president of the United States on Jan. 20.

Students from Beaver Local, Crestview Local, East Liverpool, Leetonia Exempted Village and Salem will travel to Washington D. C. on Jan. 18.

Over the weekend, they will visit many of the Smithsonian Institutions, the 911 Pentagon Memorial, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Memorials on the Mall, including the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, World War II Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean Memorial and the Vietnam Memorial. Students will also spend an afternoon at the Holocaust Museum.

The students will also attend an inaugural ball with other students from across the country.
