SALEM - Daniel C. Buchmann, age 92, of Salem, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 at Essex III of Salem.

Surrounded by his loving family, he passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease and complications of pneumonia. He was born Aug. 26, 1920 in Salem Ohio, son of the late Nicholas J. and Margaret (Brophy) Buchmann.

Daniel retired in 1980 with 12 years of service from Creative Label Co. in Aurora, Ohio as plant superintendent, and he previously was a partner of Cardinal Litho, in Salem.

He was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Salem Council 1818. He was a past president of Salem Kiwanis Club and former member of United Commercial Travelers.

Daniel served in the U.S. Army with the 8th Air Corp during WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Frances A. (Coz) Buchmann, whom he married Feb. 23, 1946; two daughters, Mrs. John (Marie) Miller of Hartville, Ohio and Mrs. John (Francine) Stetz of Canton, Ohio; two sons, Daniel Philip Buchmann and wife Karen of Salem, James F. Buchmann and wife Connie of Leetonia; 12 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by three grandsons, Nicholas J. Buchmann, James P. Buchmann and Patrick C. Miller.

The funeral mass will be held at noon, Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Bob Edwards officiating. Interment will be at the Grandview Cemetery in Salem at a later date. Calling hours will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home.
