Grafton Road paving set this week

FRANKLIN SQUARE - Grafton Road between state Route 558 and Lodge Road will be paved on Jan. 16 and 17 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., according to Constable Dan Valentine. The road will remain open for local traffic only as well as school buses and emergency personnel but delays may be possible, Valentine said.

Southern Local meeting set Wednesday

SALINEVILLE - The Southern Local School District's Local Professional Development Committee meeting begins at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday in the elementary office.

Lisbon Baptist Food Pantry open Thursday

LISBON - Lisbon Baptist Food Pantry at 6428 Lisbon Road will be open from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday.

Fish fry set at Beloit fire department

BELOIT The Beloit Fire Department Association will hold a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.

County Microfilming Board to meet

LISBON - The Columbiana County Microfilming Board's reorganizational meeting begins at 10 a.m. Friday in the auditor's conference room on the main floor of the courthouse.

Amateur radio exams set at County EMS

LISBON - Amateur radio exams technician through amateur extra will be given at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Columbiana County Emergency Management Agency, 215 S. Breakfast offered at Salem VFW Sunday

SALEM - Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 Men's Auxiliary is hosting a public breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the post at 496 Arch St. Haystacks, or a traditional breakfast consisting of eggs, pancakes, hash browns, sausage patties, toast, orange juice and coffee, are available. Cost is $4 per meal.

Ham dinner set at Bayard Grange

MINERVA - Bayard Grange on U.S. Route 30 will serve a ham dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The menu includes cheesy potatoes, green beans, choice of homemade cole slaw or applesauce, dessert and beverage. Cost is $8 for a large meal or $6 for small. Carryout is available. Safety program set at crime watch meeting

BEAVER TOWNSHIP - Beaver Township Police Lt. Kal Adjoran will speak at 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Beaver Township Police Crime Watch meeting at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrott Road. Lt. Adjoran will present a safety program titled, "See Something Say Something." Local crime statistics will also be discussed. The public is invited to attend.

Make Valentine's at Columbiana Library

COLUMBIANA - The public is invited to make Valentine's Day from 6 to 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Columbiana Public Library. Karen Ullom will be present to use the Accu-Cut machine along with card stock. Registration is required at the library or by calling 330-482-5509.

RASCAL unit coming to dog pound

LISBON - The RASCAL Unit, a mobile low cost spay/neuter clinic, will be hosted by the Columbiana County dog pound, 8455 County Home Road, on Feb. 2. Reservations and payment are required in advance. Payment is non-refundable, but may be applied toward spay/neuter at an alternate clinic, after the deduction of a cancellation fee for late cancellations. Pre-Hospital Care Assoc. dinner dance set

COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Pre-Hospital Care Association is hosting its second annual benefit dinner dance at 6 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Links at Firestone. The event is held to raise funds to send an underprivileged individual to school to learn the trade of pre-hospital medicine. Tickets are $30 each or $50 per couple. This year's theme is Mardi Gras. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. of either glazed ham or chicken, salad, rigatoni, broccoli and cheese and red-skinned potatoes. There will be a 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction. To purchase tickets call 330-921-9650 or 330-692-1427. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

'Day of Beauty' nominations accepted

LISBON - Heroes and Halos is conducting a "Day of Beauty" on Feb. 8. Nominations will be accepted for parents, caregivers or guardians of individuals with special needs to be chosen for a free three-hour session of being pampered. To submit a nomination, write a short letter explaining: who the nominee is and why they should be chosen along with their age, phone number and address.

The Cosmetology Department at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center will donate its time and efforts by providing hair cuts and styling and manicures and pedicures. Nominations must be sent before Feb. 1 to: Heroes and Halos att: Day of Beauty, P.O. Box 392, Columbiana, Ohio 44408.

Columbiana Tourism Bureau plans schedule

COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau is planning its 2013 schedule of events and is searching for volunteers interested in helping with various event committees and potential board members. Committees needing volunteers are Springtime in Columbiana, Columbiana Wine Festival, Firestone Park Festival of the Arts, Photography Contest, and the Joy of Christmas light show. Those interested in volunteering would be required to meet on a monthly basis and to complete tasks regarding the event and working at the event.
