SEBRING - Susan M. Schmied, 64, of Crandall Medical Center in Sebring went home to her heavenly father Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Salem Community Hospital.
She was born Jan. 21, 1948, in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of the late Theodore and Harriet (Flitcraft) Schmied.
Susie as she was known to all, was a graduate of South East in Portage County and was a member of Topps and the Baptist Church in Beloit, Ohio.
She is survived by two brothers, David (Malena) Schmied of Naples, Fla., and Jon (Judy) Schmied of Austintown, Ohio, along with six nephews, Theodore (Lucinda) Schmied II, Jeff (Carley) Schmied, David Schmied, Brian (Kirsten) Schmied, Matt (Krista) Schmied, Michael and Bill Schmied.
She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, cousins and beloved friends that brightened her days, Patrick, Josie, Nancy and Connie.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, brothers Theodore and Karl, sister-in-law Kay, great-niece April and great-nephew Theodore the III, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and many of her beloved pets.
Susie loved life and always lived her life for God. She will be greatly missed by her many cousins whom she helped raise, and were more like her children. She embraced life and truly loved all that crossed her path, especially animals.
Calling hours will be held from 6 o 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, with the funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dean's Funeral Home in Sebring with Chaplain David Parry from Copeland Oaks and the Rev. Ray Harris of the Louisville Church of the Nazarene officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Angels for Animals in North Lima or to the donor's choice.
