James E. Tingle

LEETONIA - James E. Tingle 72, of 172 Chestnut St., died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born March 30, 1940, in Washingtonville, he was the son of the late Leslie V. and Helen A. (Stecker) Tingle.

Mr. Tingle had been employed at the former Kaiser Aluminum and later National Refractories for 36 years, retiring in 2003. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a member of the former Washingtonville Volunteer Fire Department from 1958 until 1969 and then joined the Leetonia Volunteer Fire Department in 1969, serving until his retirement in 2008.

Survivors include his wife, the former Lena Zimmerman, whom he married April 12, 1969; a daughter, Becky (Bill Wodarek) Sommers of Leetonia; and three grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Addie Tingle.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home with Pastor Ashley McMillin and Pastor Teresa Smolka officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
