Columbiana Relay kickoff set
COLUMBIANA - The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life of Columbiana will hold its kickoff at 7 p.m. today at Farmers National Bank in Columbiana. All are welcome to attend and learn how to start a team or information about joining the committee.
Salem 1954 breakfast planned
SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1954 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Jan. 31 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.
AAA Driving registration set

Knights plan poster contest
'LISBON - The Knights of Columbus and Columbiana County Educational Service Center's sixth annual "Substance Abuse Awareness" poster contest awards ceremony begins at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 in the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center cafetorium. The contest is offered to all county schools through the CCESC and is open to all students ages 8 to 14. Winning entries progress from local (school) to district (county) and state levels of competition, national, and finally to the international level. Winning entries at the international level will be used for a series of anti-substance abuse posters. This year 28 local student winners were judged at the CCESC from approximately 1,500 participants by health educators, police, DARE officers and art teachers who donated their time.
Guest speaker will be Judge Scott Washam. Washam will also participate in a round table discussion with the county ADAPT Coalition High School Youth Leaders. Discussions will revolve around their state recognized public service announcements which will be shown prior to discussions.
Karaoke set at Salem Eagles
SALEM - Karaoke with Bob and Ray is slated from 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the Salem Eagles Club on North Ellsworth Avenue.
Church Women United to meet
SALEM - Church Women United will meet at 1 p.m. Jan. 28 in the Emmanuel Lutheran Education Building. This month's speaker is Mark Altomore from Lamb's House.
Spaghetti dinner planned
HANOVERTON - A spaghetti dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 1, before the basketball homecoming game, in the United Local High School cafeteria. Cost is $5 for adults, $4 for students and free for under 5. Carryouts are available. The public is welcome. Proceeds will benefit the eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C.

NEW WATERFORD - Village council will meet in special session at 6:30 p.m. today to discuss and is expected to take action to place a 4-mill operating levy on the May 7 ballot.
