SALEM - Melahat O. Mavi, 89, of Salem, formerly of Leetonia, died at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday at Essex of Salem I.
Born Aug. 5, 1923, in Istanbul, Turkey, she was the daughter of Fehmi and Maise Ozkan.
Mrs. Mavi was a registered nurse.
Her husband, Argon Mavi, M.D., died Feb. 19, 2003.
She is survived by a son, Emre Mavi of Salem.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Franklin Square Cemetery in Salem where burial will follow.
Arrangements were handled by the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home in Leetonia.
