Winter sale set at Memorial Building
SALEM - The annual indoor winter yard sale and flea market will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 23 at the Salem Memorial Building, 785 E. State St.
Reservations for table rental are now being accepted by calling the Memorial Building at 330-332-5512. An 8-foot table with two chairs will be provided for $20. Lunch will be available for purchase.
Victorian Players holding auditions
YOUNGSTOWN - The Victorian Players will hold open auditions for its first musical, "The Fantasticks," at 7 p.m. March 4 and 5 at the theater, 702 Mahoning Ave Cast requirements are for seven men and one woman. Age ranges for men at 16 to 50 with the age of the woman being 16 to 18.
Rehearsals will begin in March with performances being May 3-19. Auditionees should be prepared to read from the script and sing a prepared song (no CD accompaniment is permitted). Accompanist will be provided. For more information call J.E.Ballantyne Jr. at 330-799-6176.
R-Weigh support groups meet
SALEM - The R-Weigh weight support groups met at 1 and 5 p.m. Monday at the First Friends Church. The afternoon group's good losers for two weeks were Sylvia Eller, Kay Swanson, Evelyn Peters and Joyce Sanders. Patty Mills was the goalie for the week and also received the birthday award. Rachel Weaver won the can-do monetary award. Doctor-approved home remedies was the program for the week.
The evening group had a weigh-in only last week because of the weather. The good losers for the two weeks were Beverly Armitage, Mary Hefner, Susan Cain, Birdie Reinhart, Colleen Wafler and Jeni Alwood. Lisa Jones was the goalie for the week. Carol Held presented a program on healthy snacks and distributed samples to the members.
The recognition awards for 2012 good losers is canceled for the night group on Feb. 18 and for the day group on Feb. 25 and will be rescheduled for a later date. New members are welcome. For more information call 330-332-1078.
Honey Beekeepers Assoc. to meet
CANFIELD - Columbiana and Mahoning County Honey Beekeepers Association will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. today at the Mill Creek Metro Park building, across from Canfield Fair Ground entrance. All are welcome.
Deerfield Historical Society to host dance
DEERFIELD - The Deerfield Historical Society's third Monday dance is scheduled from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 state Route 14. Food is available for purchase. Admission is $3 per person. The public is invited.
Salem Music Study Club to hold meeting
SALEM - The Salem Music Study Club meeting begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 27 in the parlor of the Education Building of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 251 S. Broadway Ave. P.J. Devine and Ruth Newman will present the program after the meeting. Guests are welcome. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be canceled.
