Southern Local hosting charity games
SALINEVILLE - Southern Local will host three charity basketball games on Friday. A Staff vs. Seniors game begins at 5 p.m., followed by a 30 and Over Alumni game and an Under 30 Alumni game.
There will also be a free throw contest and a 3-point contest. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for students. All proceeds will be donated to Southern Local Elementary/K105's Quest for a Million Pennies, which benefits St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
SL Little Indians board will meet Sunday
SALINEVILLE - The Southern Local Little Indians board meeting begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at the high school football field. Everyone is invited to attend.
Library's board of trustees will meet

SALEM - Deming retirees and former employees will meet for breakfast at 8 a.m. March 19 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana High School Class of 1955 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. March 19 at the Iron Rails Cafe in Leetonia.
Senior Citizens board meeting is March 19
SALEM - The Salem Senior Citizens board meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. March 19 at the Memorial Building. All past officers are urged to attend.
The next lunch meeting begins at noon March 27 at the Memorial Building. All members are reminded to bring bingo prizes.
Final OBB Tax Clinic will be held March 20
SALEM - The Family and Community Resource Center will hold its final OBB Tax Clinic from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 20 in the computer lab at Kent State University City Center, 230 N. Lincoln Ave.
Melissa Patek, Americore volunteer, will be present to assist with tax appointments. This is a free service provided to individuals earning $60,000 and below. To pre-register for this service call the FCRC at 330-420-0044.
Church of the Nazarene hosting free dinner
WEST POINT - Church of the Nazarene will host a free Easter dinner for the community from 5 to 7 p.m. March 21 at the church. Special entertainment is planned.
"Breakfast with the Easter Bunny" will be served from 9 to 11 a.m. March 23 at the church.
Children ages newborn through 12 years are invited. Pictures with the Easter Bunny are available. There will also be treat bags for the children a special puppet show.
Damascus Ruritan Club's dinner is March 23
DAMASCUS - The Damascus Ruritan Club's 48th annual spring Swiss steak dinner is slated from 4:30 to 7 p.m. March 23 at the West Branch High School cafeteria.
Carryouts will be available. Proceeds will be used to help finance the club's scholarships to be awarded to graduating seniors to help further their educations.
Crown Theater schedules auditions
COLUMBIANA - Crown Theater Productions is holding auditions for "the King and I!" from 6 to 9 p.m. March 25 and 27 at the Main Street Theater, 5 N. Main St.
Script reading and singing is required for adults. Children will be asked to sing and talk. The show dates are June 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23.
Lt. Adorjan will address crime watchers
BEAVER TOWNSHIP- Lt. Kal Adorjan will speak at the Beaver Township Police Crime Watch meeting at 7 p.m. March 26 in the activity center at Shepherd of the Valley, 9111 Sharrott Road.
SHS Class of 1946 will meet for breakfast
SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1946 will meet for breakfast at 8:30 a.m. March 26 at Adele's Place. Also scheduled is breakfast at the same time and place on April 23.
Easter egg hunt planned at the Flying B
SALEM - An Easter egg hunt begins at 11 a.m. March 30 at the Flying B Golf Course, 13223 W. Middletown Road. Children up to age 10 are invited.
There will be two age divisions based on participation. Prizes will be given to winners of each age division. Reservations are requested by calling 330-337-8138. Registration will be taken in the golf shop.
Free event offered for those with diabetes
SALEM - On Sunday, people living with diabetes will have an opportunity to exercise at the Salem Community Center beginning at 10 a.m. at an event sponsored by North East Ohio Insulindependence.
This free event, called Dawn Phenom, will give participants the opportunity to be involved in a spin class or walk along the indoor track.
The program is open to anyone of any fitness level, who is living with type 1 or 2 diabetes, and is designed to help participants get fit or stay fit and give them an opportunity to socialize with and learn from others.
Dawn Phenom events are organized by Insulindependence, which is a group of athletes living with diabetes, who are on a mission to get other people living with diabetes more active. Insulindependence supports dozens of volunteer-led chapters throughout the U.S.
The group's mission is about getting people with diabetes together and encouraging them to get and stay fit through activity and exercise.
Use of the spinning facilities and indoor track is being generously donated by SCC, and the event is also supported by Salem Community Hospital.
Those wanting to participate are asked o contact Salem Community Hospital's Organizational Development department at 330-332-7636 to register in advance.
Monthly exercise sessions are also planned at 10 a.m. April 14 at the SCC.
