R-Weigh groups meet

SALEM - The R-Weigh weight loss groups met Monday at 1 and 5 p.m. at the First Friends Church. Receiving monetary awards for good losers for the week were Sarah Agee, Colleen Wafler and for the goalies for the week were Sue Carver and Jesse Rea. Patty Mills won the can-do monetary award. Gerry Heffinger presided at the afternoon meeting, Sandy McGarr gave the secretary's report and Sylvia Eller gave the treasurer's report. Karen Pauline presided at the evening meeting, Wilma Grams gave the secretary's report and Patty Pim gave the treasurer's report. Heffinger presented a program on "Cutting Back on Sugar" at both meetings. "March Down the Scales" contest winner at the afternoon group was the Sliders who beat the Go Getters 9 to 7. The Lucky Losers beat the Lively Shamrocks 18 to 16 at the evening group. The winning teams will share a monetary pot of gold on March 25.

Quilt Group to hold meeting

CANFIELD - That Quilt Group I Belong To will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fair Park. A member will teach a large tote class (for carrying cutting mats, rulers, etc.). Members who have signed up are asked to read the pattern and handout before the meeting. Doors open at 6 p.m. Those who have not signed up should call the instructor at 330-757-4241 and she will send you the pattern and handout.

CCPR 59 learns about health care changes

LISBON - Columbiana County Public Retirees Chapter #59 met on March 11 at Taste of Country with 27 members present. John Haught, district representative, and President Dick Sell informed members about changes in healthcare. The next meeting begins at 1 p.m. May 13 at Taste of Country. Lunch will be served at noon. Commissioner Weigle will discuss additional health care changes.

Deerfield Historical Society to host dance

DEERFIELD - The Deerfield Historical Society's third Monday dance will be held from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Monday at the Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 state Route 14. Refreshments are available for purchase. Admission is $3 per adult. This is a St. Patrick's dance and costumes will be encouraged.

Spaghetti dinner fundraiser set at Firestone Park

COLUMBIANA - A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. April 13 in pavilion #1 at Firestone Park. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Carryouts are available. All proceeds will benefit the Columbiana Area Meals on Wheels program. For information call 330-482-0366.
