Compassionate Friends to meet

SALEM - Compassionate Friends will meet at 7 p.m. April 1 at the First Friends Church on Jennings Avenue.

DAHS '46 to meet for lunch Thursday

LISBON - The Lisbon High School classes of 1946 and 1947 are invited to lunch at noon April 4 at the Taste of Country.

Amaranth spaghetti dinner scheduled

SALEM - The public is invited to the Amaranth spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. April 20 at the Masonic Temple, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children 6 and under. The building offers a handicap accessible elevator.

Seven-One Club holds gathering

SALEM - The Seven and One Club met Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Gerald Mincks. Her guests included Mrs. Gary Metzgar and Mrs. Wayne Cameron. An Easter theme prevailed at the luncheon served by the hostess who also presented each guest with a bunny filled with candy as a favor. Cards were played and prizes won by the following: Mrs. John Hively, first place; Mrs. Ken Kaufman, second; Mrs. Tracy Dearth, low; and Mrs. Herb Bott, travel. The next club meeting begins at 7 p.m. April 17 at the Bott home on Depot Road.

Historical Society Monday dance set

DEERFIELD - The Deerfield Historical Society's first Monday dance is scheduled from 7 to 9:30 p.m. April 1 at the Deerfield Town Hall, 1450 state Route 14. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Admission is $3 per person. The Easter basket raffle will be drawn at the end of this dance.

The society is sponsoring a first person interpretation by Bob O'Connor, a noted Civil War author, as Ward Hill Lamon, bodyguard to President Abraham Lincoln, at 3:30 p.m. April 14 at the Deerfield Town Hall. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. A soup and salad meal follows at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $10 per person. Reservations are required by calling William Westover at 330-654-2199.

Shrine Club slates spaghetti dinner

NORTH LIMA - The public is invited to a spaghetti dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 7 at the Youngstown Shrine Club, 1735 W. South Range Road. Cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for ages 6 to 12.

Women's Rally set for April 20

YOUNGSTOWN The "Catch the Vision" Women's Rally in the Valley will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 20 at the Victory Christian Center. Cost is $15 per person. Registration begins at 8 a.m.

Speakers include Pat Sciaretta, director of social services of the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley; Tia Ciferno, executive director at Bella Women's Center and owner of Draw Near Ministries; Melanie Miller, Mrs. Ohio America 2011, Mrs. America/World, youth ministries director at the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center; Pastor Kathie Thomas, lead pastor with David Thomas of Victory Christian Center; Sonja Williams, outcome specialist and wife of former Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams; and Allison Thomas, former youth worship leader and current worship leader at Victory Christian Center.

TOPS?1380 to hold banquet Monday

SALEM - Salem T.O.P.S. Chapter #1380 will hold its banquet at 6 p.m. April 1 at Ricky's English Pub. There will be no weigh-ins for that night only.

Creative Clovers hold meeting

NORTH?BENTON - The Creative Clovers 4-H Club met on March 16. Roll call was answered by what you want for Easter. Devotions were answered by the Burns sisters (Elizabeth Burns, Carrie Burns and Taylor Burns). They read "Blankets," "First Flowers" and "On Easter Morning." The health report was about Vitamin D. The safety report was titled "Stop, Drop and Roll." The energy report suggested to turn off the TV and read. For old business the club voted to volunteer at the humane society for their community service project, to sell candy bars as their fundraiser, and to go to COSI for a field trip.

For new business the club was informed that 4-H camp is July 14-20.

Salem Quota Club to host garage sale

SALEM - Quota International of Salem is hosting an indoor garage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 6 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Education Building, 251 S. Broadway Ave., Salem. Lunch will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring homemade soups and sandwiches. All proceeds go to help community projects. SALEM - The Mullins Office Ladies luncheon starts at 12:30 p.m. April 6 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.

AASCC to host Casino Nite

ALLIANCE - The public is invited to Casino Nite from 6:30 to 8 p.m. April 6 at Alliance Area Senior Citizens Center, 602 W. Vine St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. A buffet dinner will be available. Raffle tickets are $50 each and includes two free meals. The $10 admission includes a full buffet and open bar. Proceeds will benefit the center. Christian Women to meet April 8

COLUMBIANA - Community Christian Women will meet on April 8 at the Zion Hill Brethren Church. Easter music will be presented by the middle School children from East Liverpool who attend the American Spirit Academy. The meeting begins with a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. for a donation of $6. Alzheimer's activity workshop slated

AUSTINTOWN - The Alzheimer's Assistance and Referral Network will present an Alzheimer's Activity Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon April 6 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2305 S. Canfield-Niles Road (Route 46), Austintown. The workshop will guide caregivers toward choosing appropriate activities for individual patients that will give meaning and success to their lives. There is no charge and all materials will be provided. Advance reservations are required by calling the Alzheimer's Network at 330-788-9755.

Rigatoni benefit dinner scheduled

SALEM - A benefit rigatoni dinner with all the trimmings will be held for Belinda Rance from 1 to 5 p.m. April 14 at AMVETS Post 45, 750 S. Broadway Ave. Tickets are $8 each and $4 for children 10 years and under.
