SALEM - Anthony C. Dominic, 86, a former Salem resident, died at 10:34 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Inn at Renaissance Village in Middletown, Ohio.
He was born July 9, 1926 in Leetonia, the son of the late Tommaso and Maria (Saluino) Damanico.
Tony retired as a sergeant from the Ohio State Highway Patrol after 23 years. Then he worked as an investigator for the public defender's office. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Leetonia, a 1944 graduate of Leetonia High School, a member of the Leetonia Hall of Fame, the Salem Italian American Club and the Salem V.F.W. Post 892. Tony enjoyed gardening and traveling. During World War II, he served in the U. S. Army-Air Corps.
Survivors included his wife, Stella L. (Jones) Dominic, whom he married August 20, 1955; a daughter, Cindy Hill of Middletown, a sister, Josephine Ellis; a grandson, Easton Hill, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, a sister, Lena Weikart, and two brothers, Frank and Fred Dominic, preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery with military honors by the Salem Honor Guard.
