Salem Farmers Market to open today

SALEM - The Salem Farmers Market will open at 9 a.m. today in the McCulloch lot next to Troll's Jewelry on East State Street.

DAHS 1956 to meet for breakfast

LISBON - The David Anderson High School Class of 1956 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Taste of Country.

AAA Driving School plans classes in Salem

SALEM - AAA Driving School is accepting registration for the upcoming classes from 3 to 7 p.m. May 8, 9, 13, 14, 15 and 16 at Salem High School. Registration forms and spring special deals may be picked up in the office. For more information call 330-277-0052.

Leadership Columbiana County graduation

SALEM - The 2012-13 Leadership Columbiana County class will hold graduation and the organization will host a dinner at 5 p.m. May 8 at the Salem Golf Club. Interested business professionals and guests of the students are reminded to make reservations for the event by calling the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce at 330-337-3473 or by e-mailing tlpeppel@salemohiochamber.org. Cost is $30 per person. Special guest speaker, Brian Blasko, sponsored by David Hughes, owner of Specialty Fab Inc., will present "Cruisin' Through Life at 35 MPH."

Free youth fishing clinic planned

SALEM - The Salem Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a free fishing clinic for youth, ages 6 to 15, from 1 to 4 p.m. May 18 at the Salem Reservoir on Gamble Road. The event will be restricted to the first 50 participants who apply. For more information or to register stop in the Salem Memorial Building at 785 E. State St. or call Shane Franks at 330-332-5512.

Indoor yard sale set at Memorial Building

SALEM - The Salem Memorial Building's annual indoor spring yard sale and flea market will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 18 at 785 E. State St.

An 8-foot table with two chairs will be provided for $15. Reservations to participate are now being taken by stopping in, calling 330-332-5512, or mailed to the Memorial Building.

LISBON - A rabies prevention clinic, sponsored by the Columbiana County Health Department and the Lisbon Veterinary Clinic, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. May 18 at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center, 9364 state Route 45 South. Cost is $5 per dose for pets that are 3 months of age and older. All dogs and cats must be on a leash or confined in a cage. Rabies vaccination certificates will be issued.

Workshop to focus on at-risk youth

CANFIELD - There is a higher risk of suicidal behavior for youth and young adults who are aging out of foster care and youth who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender. A half-day workshop will focus on working with these two at-risk populations. The program will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. May 20 at A La Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. The program is approved for three CEU's of ethics training for counselors and social workers.

Cost is $20 per person and includes breakfast. Checks can be made payable to Help Hotline Crisis Center Inc., P.O. Box 46, Youngstown, Ohio 44501. For more information call 330-747-5111. The registration deadline is May 13.

This workshop is sponsored by Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, Help Hotline Crisis Center, Mahoning County Mental Health Board, Trumbull County Mental Health and Recovery Board, Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation, and Columbiana, Mahoning, and Trumbull County Suicide Prevention Coalitions.

Concealed carry class offered
