EAST LIVERPOOL- Virginia R. Edgell Plumley, 83, lifelong resident of East Liverpool, died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh after an unexpected complication from a fall.
She was born March 26, 1930, a daughter of the late Robert Lewis Edgell and Hazel Esther Pollock Mosser Edgell. Her parents preceded her in death, as well as an older sister, Thelma Mosser Hilderbrand.
Virginia was beloved wife of Calvin Eugene Plumley, who preceded her in death; loving mother of Scott Alan Plumley of Guam and Sue Ellen Plumley of East Liverpool.
She is survived by two brothers, Robert L. "Jim" Edgell of East Liverpool and Kenneth E. Edgell of Massillon; as well as six sisters, Phyllis Mosser Sopko, who before publication followed her in death, Dorthory Jean Tomlison of East Liverpool, JoAnn Novakovich of Canton, Sondra Hague and her husband, Donald "Bud" of Salem, Carolyn Pallard of East Liverpool, Linda Sullivan of Springboro, Ohio, and a daughter-in-law, Joan Plumley of Holt, Mo.
Known as Aunt Virginia and Grandma Ginna, she shaped the lives of nine grandchildren and was great-grandma to six, and childcare provider to over 50 children through her lifetime.
Memorial services for the celebration of her life were held May 2 at the East Liverpool Salvation Army officiated by Pastor Norm Eckert.
Virginia was accepted as a donor to the University of Pittsburgh for the advancement of medical education and research after which burial will take place at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
