May 17, 2013
Salem News

Salem Police Sgt. Danny Green has his badge pinned on by his wife, Alison, after being promoted Thursday morning. Green has been with the department for 14 years, full-time since August 2000, after briefly serving in Leetonia. He earned an associate's degree in criminal justice from Kent State University and Ohio Police Officers Training Academy (OPOTA) certification from Jefferson Technical College (Jefferson Community College) in Steubenville. In addition to his wife, Green's two daughters, Skyler and Ashlyn, and his parents, Gary and Fran Phillips, as well as several of his colleagues, attended the ceremony. Chief J.T. Panezott said all the personnel moves are done, with Sgt. John Scheetz returning to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force full-time on Monday, the same day that Debbie Thomas returns to her position as police secretary, now on a part-time basis.
