CC?Dairy Boosters name 2013 princess, honor past winners

COLUMBIANA- The Columbiana County Buckeye Dairy Boosters held their spring banquet April 21 at Das Dutch Village Inn in Columbiana. Since 1979 the Dairy Boosters have sponsored the Dairy Princess Contest and all former princesses were also invited to attend. There where 15 Columbiana County Dairy Princesses present for the banquet.

Elaina Zehentbauer was crowned the 2013 princess. Elaina, daughter of Richard and Jennifer Zehentbauer of Hanoverton, is a junior at United Local High School. She is active in the Kids-N-Kritters 4-H Club, Junior Fairboard, Junior Leaders, marching band, Ruriteens, Spanish Club, yearbook and newspaper staff. Morgan Harding, daughter of Mark and Kelly Harding of Leetonia, was runner-up. She is a freshman at Crestview Local High School and is active in the Farmers Pride 4-H Club, Junior Fairboard, soccer, track and band.

The 2012-2013 Dairy Princess Erica Steiger gave a report on her reign before crowning Elaina the new Dairy Princess. Judges for this year were Debbie Grammer and Dianne Shoemaker.

This year's scholarship winners were Hannah Swope and Andre Whiteleather. Hannah Swope, daughter of Kevin and Sarah Swope of Salem, is a senior at United Local High School and will be attending Hocking College in the fall, majoring in Wildlife Resource Management. Andre Whiteleather is a senior at Minerva High School and will be attending Ohio University in the fall, majoring in Marketing and Finance.

During a short business meeting plans were discussed for the spring trip in May, 4-H Experience Day on May 17 and the county fair in August.
