GREENFORD - The Greenford Ruritan Memorial Day Parade will be held at 9 a.m. Monday.

The Ruritans extend an invitation to all township military veterans to ride on floats and they can meet at the Greenford Chrisitian Church at 8:30 a.m.

The parade theme is "American Pride."

The honorary parade marshal is township resident George Sigle, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and the keynote speaker will be retired U.S. Navy Vice Admiral John LaPlante from Poland.

LaPlante is a 1962 graduate of the U.S. Naval Acadamy and served 25 years on active duty.

The parade features floats, antique cars, tractors, hot rods, scouts, horses, firetrucks, decorated bikes and the South Range High School Marching Band.

There will be cash prizes for first through third place for floats, decorated bikes and horse groups. All decorated bike entries receive a $2 bill.

The parade will be held rain or shine and conclude at the square where a short ceremony and the keynote speech will be given.

Veterans wanting to ride on a float should contact parade Chairman Mark Stepuk at 330-402-5655 by Friday.

The parade starts at the Greenford Christian Church parking with assembly at 8 a.m. and judging at 8:30 a.m.
