DALTON - Russell L. Horst, 54, of Dalton, died Thursday afternoon at his residence, following a period of declining health.
He was born on June 9, 1958, in Orrville, to Byard D. and Mary C. (Falb) Horst and married Juanita R. Mast on Oct. 3, 1981, in Darbun, Miss.
He was a dairy and grain farmer for the family farm for most of his life and was a member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church in Leetonia.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita; five sons, Wendell (Rebecca) Horst of Apple Creek, Rod, Lowell, Doug, and Larry Horst, all of the home; three daughters, Crystal Horst of the home, Michelle (Jesse) Hostetler of Salem, and Kim Horst of the home; five grandchildren; his mother, Mary Horst of Dalton; three sisters, Lillian (Alvin) Stoltzfus of Blackville, S.C., Donnabelle (Tim) Mast of Greentop, Mo., and Sandra (Lamar) Martin of Orrville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Byard D. Horst in 2010.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the East Union Mennonite Church 10678 Old Lincoln Way, Orrville, with Harry Neuenschwander officiating. Burial will take place at County Line Mennonite Cemetery near Dalton.
Friends may call on Sunday at the East Union Mennonite Church from 1:30 to 4 p.m. or 6 to 9 p.m.
