COLUMBIANA- Wayne D. Zimmerman, 86, died at 7:20 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Zimmerman was born Feb. 25, 1927, in East Palestine, a son of Warren and Grace Westover Zimmerman, and had lived in this area all of his life.
Wayne was a machinist for NRM in Columbiana for 37 years, retiring in 1989. He was Methodist by faith. Wayne served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Joe Williams Post #131 American Legion in Leetonia.
He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Kiliany, whom he married June 4, 1955; three sisters, Betty (George) Boston of Washingtonville, Nora (Dick) Hussar of Salem and Lena Tingle of Leetonia; two brothers, Ralph (Eleanor) Zimmerman of Washingtonville and Leroy (Rita) Zimmerman of Boulder, Col.; and several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana with the Rev. Dr. Robert C. Joy officiating. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
