RUSKIN, Fla. - Betty L. Parker Leonard, 81, died March 2, 2013, at her home in Ruskin, Fla.
She was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Bowling Green, Ohio, the daughter of Lloyd H. and Hazel M. Carr Parker.
Mrs. Leonard resided in Fortville, Ind., before moving to Florida. Betty was a graduate of Salem High School Class of 1949 and met her husband, Robert Leonard, at Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., in the fall of 1949. They were married in Kentucky on March 15, 1950.
She obtained a bachelor's of science degree in elementary education from Youngstown State University and held teaching positions in Lake Milton, Ohio; Bellbrook, Ohio and in Mt. Vernon School System in Fortville, Ind. Later she taught at the Fortville Elementary School. Her favorite hobbies were cooking and crocheting.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Leonard of Ruskin, Fla.; two sons, Robert Leonard Jr. and Timothy Leonard, both of Fortville, Ind.; a daughter, Joyce (Bob) Bolander of Fortville, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Jackie (Robert) Smith of Lansing, Mich.; Marilyn (Donovan) Winn of Salem, and Dorothy Dean of Howell, Mich., and her Aunt Ethel (Ralph) Davis of Canfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James L. Parker.
Cremation arrangements were made by Zipper's Funeral Home of Ruskin. A time of visitation for family and friends will be held at 2 p.m. on June 22, 2013, at the Grandview Cemetery Chapel in Salem.
