By KEVIN HOWELL , Salem News

GOSHEN TWP.- The cause of the fatal fire on state Route 534 in April has been officially ruled undertermined by the state fire marshal's office.

According to Michael Duchesne, public information officer for the state fire marshal, the case was closed on Thursday. He said investigators were not able to rule out electrical components and that nothing pointed toward any suspicious activity.

Justin Kidd, 20, died from smoke inhalation after being trapped in the single-story home's basement where the fire could be seen upon arrival.

Damascus firefighters responded to the home at 12061 S. Pricetown Road (state Route 534) at 11:45 p.m. April 27 where three other family members had escaped from the first floor.
