Beloit celebrating 150th anniversary

The village of Beloit is celebrating its 150th anniversary this month. Activities began Thursday and included a parade Friday evening. On Saturday, a Metro Life flight helicopter touched down for viewing in the village park. Also held was a breakfast hosted by the Beloit Ruritan Club, a pedal tractor pull conducted by the Knox Township Ruritan, a "touch table" of animal skins presented by Mill Creek Metroparks, a dunk tank, cornhole tournaments and wings meals prepared by the members of the Beloit Fire Department who were instrumental in staging the celebration of the village's heritage. Church in the park will be held at 10:30 a.m. today. The Beloit Fire Department Association's 5th annual poker run will be held today. First bike out will be 9 a.m. and last bike in at 5 p.m. A public breakfast will be held from 7-11 a.m. Cost is $6 per person. The bike run and breakfast will at the Beloit Fire Station. During the afternoon in the park, located near the fire station, there will be a DJ from 3-9 p.m., a car, bike and tractor show from 4-7 p.m. and dinner at 5 p.m. with different selections at $8 each.
