Salem 1958 to kick off reunion Friday

SALEM -The Salem High School Class of 1958 will kick off its 55th class reunion at 6 p.m. Friday at the Italian Club on Penn Avenue. No reservations are needed for the free event. All classmates are welcome.

Reservations are needed for dinner at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Golf Club and also for the breakfast brunch at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Salem Golf Club.

Author to sign books at Trade a Book

SALEM - Robert W. Greier Jr. will be signing copies of his three novels: "Five Shorts," "The Disappearance of Uncle Ned," and "Hallowing Wings," from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Trade a Book, 291 N. Lincoln Ave.

Italian sausage featured at Salem VFW

SALEM - The kitchen at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 will be open to the public from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The special is Italian sausage and fries for $4.50.

East Palestine council to meet Monday

EAST PALESTINE - The East Palestine Village Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. Monday at the Park Community Center.

Banquet in Salem to feature fried chicken

SALEM - The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building. Friends of the Banquet will sponsor and serve the meal offering fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cole slaw, fresh vegetables and fruits, and ice cream sundaes. COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana Exempted Village Schools Board of Education meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the high school media center.

LISBON - The Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education plans to meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the board room at the BOE office, 317 N. Market St.

SALEM - The Salem High School Class of 1948 will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Adele's Place.

DAHS 1956 breakfast planned

LISBON The David Anderson High School Class of 1956 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. July 10 at the Taste of Country restaurant.

Salem Area Retirees to meet for lunch

SALEM - Salem Area Retirees will meet at noon July 11 at the CIO Hall, 547 Prospect St. Lunch will be provided.

1978 Beaver Local reunion set July 13

LISBON - Reservations are still available for the Beaver Local High School Class of 1978's 35th reunion on July 13. The event, featuring a casual 70s theme, begins at 6 p.m. at the East Liverpool Country Club. A class photo will be taken at 6:45 p.m. with prints available for purchase during the reunion. Cost of the entire evening (including a dinner buffet) is $30 per person. Classmates who did not receive an invitation should call 330-385-2434 as soon as possible.

First ghost walk of season set Saturday

HANOVERTON - The first ghost walk of the 2013 season begins at 8:15 p.m. Saturday at the rear of the Spread Eagle Tavern. Cost is $6 for adults and children 12 years and over. This walk, offered by History, Haunts, and Legend Tours, includes a walk to the cemetery.

Breakfast offered Saturday at Hunting Club

SALEM - An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Hunting Club, 549 Indiana Ave. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, potatoes, bacon and beverages. Club officers will be available to answer questions regarding membership and upcoming events.

Project Appleseed returns to the club at 8:30 a.m. July 27 and 28. The Revolutionary War Veterans Association will teach attendees shared heritage and history as well as three position shooting skills (standing, sitting or kneeling and prone).

Discounted or free pricing is available to youth under 18, women, active military, reserve, and guard, peace officers, disabled, (each require ID), re-enactors in period dress and elected officials. Green Twp. FD accepting applications

GREENFORD - The Green Township Fire Department is accepting applications for firefighters and emergency medical technicians. Applications are available at 6:30 p.m. on Mondays at the fire station at 12210 Lisbon Road, or by contacting Chief Todd Baird at 330-774-9697. Applicants must live one mile from the township boundaries.

GED testing offered in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN - GED testing is available at 8:45 a.m. July 23 and 24 at Choffin Career and Technical Center. All participants must be pre-registered and bring a photo ID. To pre-register for the test or to enroll in free classes call 330-744-8715.

New Waterford council to meet Tuesday
