Salem reports

-Michael R. Brown, 1294 Carole Drive, was arrested at 3:04 a.m. Thursday after police responded to the 1300 block of E. Pershing Street for an unwanted intoxicated man. Upon arrival police heard breaking glass at the back of the residence and observed a man fleeing on foot who was apprehended after a short chase toward Centennial Park. He was charged with criminal damaging and obstructing official business and taken to the county jail.

-Police responded to the 600 block of E. 7th Street at 2:42 a.m. Thursday for a report of an intoxicated woman who crawled through a window and who didn't live there. The complainant was concerned about her infant child and her leaving the house with the baby while intoxicated. Police observed the infant, who appeared in good health, sleeping and advised the woman to let the child sleep.

-Police responded to the 400 block of W. State Street at 12:27 a.m. Thursday for a complaint of an intoxicated juvenile and spoke to the complainant and juvenile who was arrested for underage consumption and released to the mother.

-Police responded to the 2800 block of Bentley Drive at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday and an officer observed trash/litter in small piles approximately every 50 feet or so along the road. Litter that appeared to be clothing was also observed along N. Madison Avenue to N. Cunningham Road and on N. Cunningham Road down to E. State Street It was unknown where it came from.

-Police responded to the 900 block of E. Pershing Street at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday for a fireworks complaint and learned that juveniles had just set off a smoke bomb and they were advised of the complaint.

-Thomas G. Piatt, 480 W. Pershing Street, was charged with underage consumption at 6:58 p.m. Wednesday after police responded a call about an altercation in an upstairs apartment. It was a minor altercation between a father and son and the father had restrained the son until police arrived. Police determined the alcoholic beverage was not provided by the parents and Piatt was taken to the county jail.

-Police responded to the 400 block of N. Broadway Avenue at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a fight in progress but were unable to locate anything.

-Police responded to the neighbor dispute at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday in the 800 block of W. Howard Street where the complainant said a neighbor backed a small rental trailer onto his property. The other neighbor apologized and offered to pay for any damages. Police did not observe any damage.

-Police responded to the 2100 block of S.E. Blvd. at 5:48 p.m. Wednesday where solicitors were located and advised of a complaint and where to get a permit.

-Matthew A. Leyman, 424 W. State Street, was charged at 5:27 p.m. Wednesday with an open container after police observed him in the roadway.

-Police responded to the 500 block of E. 4th Street at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday for a report of people trespassing in the parking lot despite a sign. Police were unable to locate the two people reported to have been trespassing.

-Police responded to the 400 block of Aetna St at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday for a custody dispute that turned out to be verbal only.

-Police responded to the 900 block of Liberty Street at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday where the complainant advised his grandson was at the residence creating a disturbance but left prior to police arriving. The complainant advised the grandson had been evicted, has no reason to be at his residence and requested extra patrol of the residence. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the grandson.
