SALEM The Salem High School Class of 1955 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. July 31 at Adele's Place.
Weingart Cousins observe birthdays, anniversaries
SALEM - Birthdays and anniversaries were observed when Weingart Cousins met recently with 19 in attendance. The next breakfast begins at 9 a.m. Aug. 13 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club.
Salem Masons to hold public breakfast buffet
SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. July 27 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea.
The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.
Aaron Buxton reunion scheduled for Aug. 4
SALEM - The 89th Aaron Buxton reunion, featuring a 50/50 drawing and homemade ice cream, is scheduled Aug. 4 at Centennial Park, pavilion one. Lunch begins at noon. Those attending are to bring a coverdish to share, family history information, old photos and a raffle gift.

R-Weigh weight groups recognize weight loss winners
SALEM - The R-Weigh groups met at 1 and 5 p.m. July 15 at the First Friends Church. A loss of 25 pounds was recorded for the week. Good losers at the afternoon group were Sylvia Eller and Helen Baker. Judy Catlett and Patty Mills were the goalies for the week. Eller reached her three-fourth goal weight and received $3. Rachel Weaver earned the can-do $10 drawing. The R-Weigh Babes have won four games and the Jolly Jigglers have won two games in the baseball contest.
Good losers at the evening meeting were Lois Wood, Jeni Alwod, Sara Smith and Jen Swartz. Karen Pauline and Eleanor Billet were the goalies for the week. Shirley Dias lost weight over her birthday and received $1. The Base Hit Babes have won four games and the All Stars have won two games in the baseball contest.

St. Jude Women's Guild seeking craft show vendors
COLUMBIANA - Craft vendors are needed for St. Jude Women's Guild's annual St. Jude Craft Show to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 16 at St. Jude Activity Center, 180 Seventh. St. The show features hand crafted and homemade items, a Chinese auction, bake sale, prize raffle and lunch counter including vegetable beef soup. Victorian Players holding auctions for 'M. Valdemar'
YOUNGSTOWN - The Victorian Players and J&B Production Arts Services have announced auditions for its annual Halloween production, "Edgar Allan Poe's: The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar" which opens Oct. 11 and runs three weekends through Oct. 27.
Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 5 and 6 at the theater at 702 Mahoning Ave. Casting requirements call for five men ages 20 to 60 and two women ages 20 to 60. Rehearsals will begin toward the end of August.
The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar is a lesser known Poe story which deals with the hypnotism of a man near death in an attempt to suspend him between life and death. The movie in the 1960s starred Basil Rathbone and Vincent Price.

Greenford HS 109th alumni banquet planned for Aug. 17
GREENFORD - The Greenford High School 109th alumni banquet will be held Aug. 17 at the Smokehouse restaurant inside the old Greenford school building on state Route 165. The social hour begins at 5 p.m. with dinner served at 6 p.m.
Cost is $20 per person with the honor class of 1963 receiving their dinner free. Dinner choices are roast beef or chicken. Reservations may be made by calling Stevie Kelly Coleman at 330-702-1161 before Aug. 7.
County OSU Alumni Club to hold family picnic Aug. 1
COLUMBIANA - The Ohio State University Alumni Club of Columbiana County is hosting a family picnic at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 in pavilion four at Firestone Park. All incoming OSU freshmen and their parents have been invited as is all students, alumni, family and friends of OSU.
All OSU students present at the picnic will be entered into a $500 scholarship drawing. The annual meeting and election of trustees follows.
