COLUMBUS - Charles Franklin Harris, 86, of Urbana and formerly of Fredericktown, passed away Saturday, Aug. 3, in Riverside Hospital, Columbus.
He was born May 23, 1927 in Elkton, Ohio, the son of Edwin and Wilmina (Morris) Harris.
Charles graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in poultry science. He was a member of the Thrall Lodge #170 F. & A.M. in Fredericktown and was a former member of the shrine and the American Legion. Charles was an avid trap shooter and hunter. He enjoyed gardening and was a great friend to many of the Amish in Knox County.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol (Steve) Alexander of Urbana; granddaughters, Rosemary (Robert) Cochran of Greenville and Erin Alexander of Urbana; great granddaughter, Madelynn Cochran; as well as niece and nephews, Joyce (Michael) Boroosa, Jack (Judy) Walton and Chuck Walton all of Lisbon.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents and half-siblings, Paul Harris and Pearl Walton.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 at the Waterford United Methodist Church in Fredericktown with Rev. Dale Sutton officiating.
