Mr. and Mrs. Karl Humphrey of 6783 State Route 9, Hanoverton, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Aug. 28.
The former Alfreda Aegerter and Mr. Humphrey were married on Aug. 28, 1948, at the East Rochester Methodist Church parsonage. The Rev. Chalfaint officiated at the private, double marriage ceremony along with the late Homer and Ruth Stryffeler.
The Humphreys are the parents of three children, Bill (Wanda) of Homeworth, Mark (Sally) and Karen (Joe) Kosko, all of Hanoverton. They have five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey were the owners of Humphrey Insurance Agency prior to their retirements and had previously owned and operated Humphrey TV and Appliance in New Garden.
In their early years, Mr. Humphrey was employed with Ohio Edison following his return from the US Army, 11th Airborne Division, and later was a United Local school bus driver. He is an exceptional trumpet player and has played in several dance bands throughout the years.
Mrs. Humphrey is a homemaker and at one time, the couple owned multiple apartments and a small diner. They are members of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
They each grew up on local farms and the couple has remained in the immediate area throughout their entire lives.
