‘Love it Again’ shop opens in Sebring

September 6, 2013
By LARRY SHIELDS , Salem News

SEBRING - Christy Thayer said the idea began when she realized items she was donating to charity had some yard-sale value.

"I knew if I had a yard sale I could sell them," said Thayer, the co-owner of the Love it Again Consignment and Vintage store at 120 N. 15th St. in Sebring.

The 1983 graduate of West Branch High School opened the store on Aug. 15 and specializes in vintage and primitive-style merchandise, things you might find in an old general store in the 1900s and later, like a Wollensak movie camera, lace table cloths, handmade penny rugs, handmade bird houses, an upright Kimble piano or a 48-star American flag.

And many more items.

"I like everything," Thayer said Thursday, adding she and her husband, Steve own the store.

"You can find a little bit of everything here," Thayer said, "and it changes daily."

Love it Again takes all major credit cards and offers a 50 percent down lay-away plan with the balance paid in two weeks.

Thayer said she likes yard sales but not holding them, adding, "my items were too nice to throw away ... we are a throw-away society .... so I wanted to give things a second chance and that's where 'Love it Again' came from."

She continued, "I also thought of giving people a chance to buy gently used home decor items at affordable prices ... and carrying primitive and handmade things too.

"I carry candles which are made in Indiana from the Warm Glow Candle Co."

She wants to open a line of homemade jewelry, she said.

Love it Again is open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Fridays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
