East Palestine council to meet Monday

EAST PALESTINE - The East Palestine Village Council meeting begins at 7 p.m. Monday at Park Community Center.

Elkton-Fairfield Homemakers to meet

ELKTON - Elkton-Fairfield Homemakers will meet at 10 a.m. Sept. 10 at Southern Terrace Park. Those attending are to bring scissors, a glue gun and $2.

New Waterford 1955 lunch planned

NEW WATERFORD - The New Waterford High School Class of 1955 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at El Paso Mexican Grill in Columbiana.

Columbiana 1951 breakfast scheduled

COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana High School Class of 1951 plans to meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Sept. 11 at Das Dutch Haus.

East Palestine 1954 lunch scheduled

EAST PALESTINE - The East Palestine High School Class of 1954 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 11 at Paul's Antone's in Columbiana.

Music jam set at Lisbon VFW Sept. 14

LISBON - All musicians and singers, and the public, are welcome to a music jam from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4111. Admission is $3 per person. Food will be available for purchase.

Antlers and Anglers set in Boardman

BOARDMAN - Armstrong Antlers and Anglers will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 14 at Boardman Park. The first 200 children through the gate will receive a free fishing pole. Free activities include: Fishing (poles, bait and instruction provided), archery and simulated duck hunting, live music by The Red Dust Mountain Boys, cooking demo by Springfield Grille chefs Nick Mileto and B.J. Sulka, with free samples, the national pistol champion and History Channel Top Shot celebrity Brian "Gunny" Zins, unique items for display and purchase in the Marketplace, petting zoo and live birds of prey, wildlife display and live snakes, wagon rides and nature scavenger hunt, and food concessions.

Admission is free with a non-perishable food item. Proceeds benefit Second Harvest Food Bank.

Salem 1947 breakfast planned

SALEM The Salem High School Class of 1947 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Salem Hills Golf and Country Club. All class members and guests are welcome.

'Old School' reunion set at Career Center

LISBON - The "Old School" reunion is scheduled Sept. 21 at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center. Anyone who attended the former Rogers, Clarkson, Oak Grove, Fredericktown or Elkton schools is invited. A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $15 per person.

'Appalachian Folk Music' offered at library

COLUMBIANA - Hank Arbaugh of the Ohio Humanities Council will present "Appalachian Folk Music" from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Columbiana Public Library. Registration is required at the library or by calling 330-482-5509.

Salem Book Discussion Group to meet

SALEM - The book "State of Wonder" by Amy Patchett will be discussed at the next Adult Book Discussion Group meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 24 in the Salem Public Library's Quaker Room. Award-winning New York Times bestselling author Patchett returns with a provocative novel of morality and miracles, science and sacrifice set in the Amazon rainforest. Copies of the book are available in the library's adult services department. Participation in the discussion group is open to the public, free of cost. Registration is not required. Math homework help offered in Salem

SALEM - Free math homework help for students in grades seven to 12 will be available from 4 to 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday beginning Sept. 25 in the Salem Public Library's young adult department. No registration is needed for the tutoring which is provided through the library's partnership with Ohio certified math teacher Vanessa Moy. Breakfast buffet set at Salem Masons

SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Sept. 28 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.

Tree identification program scheduled

SALEM - Lynn Zocolo, assistant horticulture educator at Fellows Riverside Gardens at Mill Creek MetroParks, will present a tree identification program from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Salem Public Library. Registration is required at www.salem.lib.oh.us or 330-332-0042.

St. Jude Craft Show set for Nov. 16

COLUMBIANA - St. Jude Women's Guild is sponsoring its annual St. Jude Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 16 in the St. Jude Activity Center, 180 Seventh St. The show features handcrafted and homemade items, a Chinese auction, bake sale and prize raffle. A lunch counter offers a varied menu including homemade vegetable beef soup.

Quilt group to meet in Canfield Sept. 17

CANFIELD - That Quilt Group I Belong To will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at Fair Park. Doors open at 1 p.m. for those who are available to work on charity quilts and Christmas stockings.

'Drive-thru' flu shot clinics planned

SALEM - Salem Area Visiting Nurse Association will hold "drive-thru" flu clinics from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 11 and 18 at 718 E. Third St. Cost is $25. SAVNA will bill Medicare Part B or Anthem Senior Advantage Products (YRA, YRE, YRI & YRS prefixes only). Participants must bring their insurance card.
