Spaghetti dinner set in East Rochester

EAST ROCHESTER - The public is invited to a spaghetti and meatballs dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. today at the New Alexander Christian Church, 9665 Rochester Road. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children. Carryouts are available.

'Chicken drive-by' set in Leetonia

LEETONIA - The Leetonia United Methodist Church at 50 Lisbon St. will hold its monthly "chicken drive-by" from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 19, or until sold out. The meal consists of a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7. Proceeds will be used for the new roof for the church.

Rummage sale in New Garden

NEW GARDEN - The public is invited to a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 and 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 14 at the New Garden Church on Route 9. Lunch will be available featuring homemade soups and pies, sandwiches, pop and coffee.

Crimson Flood tickets offered

SALEM - Tickets are still available for the Crimson Flood concert which begins at 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at the First Christian Church, 1151 E. Sixth St. Free tickets are available by calling 330-332-4150. A love offering will be taken for the group that hails from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Survival Revival planned

SALEM - The Weaver Believer Survival Revival kicks off at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sept. 22 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1779 Depot Road, Salem.

The group is comprised of Paul and Chris Weaver who have been married for 25 years, and their eight children, ages 23 to 11, seven of whom travel with them. They were named Bluegrass Band of the Year 2009 by the Georgia Country and Gospel Music Association. For more information contact

'Seasons of Hope' to meet

COLUMBIANA - "Seasons of Hope," a support group for the bereaved, will meet at 4 p.m. Sept. 22 and 29 at St. Jude Church. Father Kraynak headed to Ravenna

RAVENNA - Bishop George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, has named the Rev. William Kraynak pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Ravenna, effective Aug. 31.

Father Kraynak was ordained June 6, 1981, following seminary studies at Mt. St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati. He served as associate pastor at St. Paul Parish in Salem, St. Louis Parish in Louisville, St. Charles Parish in Boardman and St. Joseph Parish in Canton. Father Kraynak served as pastor at Sacred Heart of Mary Parish in Harrisburg and St. Joan of Arc Parish in Canton.

Father Kraynak also served as chaplain for the Knights of Columbus, as a member of the Priest Personnel Board, the Council for Catechesis of the Board of Religious Education, the Priest retirement Board and the Priests Council.

Grief Share to resume Sept. 18

NEW WATERFORD - Grief Share, a weekly outreach ministry designed to offer support to families grieving the loss of a loved one, resumes at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 in the social room of Abundant Life Fellowship. Facilitators are George and Betty Welker, Rick Brown, and Jay Radman, pastor of Lord's Community Church in East Liverpool.

Author to speak in North Lima

NORTH LIMA - New York Times Best Selling Author, Don Piper, will speak at at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at the North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive. He is the author of "90 Minutes in Heaven - A True Story of Death and Life." According to the press release provided, "on his way home from a church conference in 1989, Piper's Ford Escort was struck head-on by an 18-wheeler. He was killed instantly - pronounced dead by four sets of paramedics. But God worked a miracle and sent him back to a broken body." To date, 34 surgical procedures have taken place. EAST LIVERPOOL - Men of all ages are invited to the buffet-style men's breakfast at 8 a.m. today at NorthSide Community Church, 702 Orchard Grove Ave. Donations will be accepted at the door.
