SALEM- Matilda M. Allmon, 76, of Haines City, Fla., formerly a Guilford Lake resident, died at 2:35 p.m. Friday Sept. 6, 2013, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman Campus.
She was born Jan. 2, 1937, in Imperiel, Pa., the daughter of the late Albert and Alice (Hayes) Ayers.
Matilda attended both the Imperiel High School and Southern Local Schools.
Matilda was employed at the Manheim Auto Auction in Haines City for the last 15 years. She had also worked for 20 years as an inspector for the former Warren Molded Plastics, now Ventra Plastics.
She was Presbyterian by faith. She also served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Her husband, James P. Allmon, whom she married in 1977, preceded her in death in 1979.
She is survived by her former husband, Darrell A. Jackson; three sons, Darrell L. Jackson of New Middletown, Dennis Jackson of Winter Haven, Fla., and John Rush of New Middletown; one daughter, Darla Guthrie of North Lima; six sisters, Mary Tackett of Florida, Florence Strimple of Florida, Wilma Bibion of Florida, Marie Kaiser of Guilford Lake and Theresa Shutler and Alberta Calvin of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stark Memorial Funeral Home. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
