North Benton Presbyterian Church

NORTH BENTON - The public is invited to an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. today at the North Benton Presbyterian Church. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for ages 6-12.

Crimson Flood concert being held

today at Salem First Christian Church

SALEM - The Crimson Flood concert begins at 7 p.m. today at the First Christian Church, 1151 E. Sixth St. Free tickets are available by calling 330-332-4150.

A love offering will be taken for the group that hails from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Registrations being accepted for AWANA

SALEM - The Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed (AWANA) program at the First Friends Church is gearing up for a new year.

Registrations will be taken from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 18 at the church at 1028 Jennings Ave.

Children in grades kindergarten to 12 are invited to participate in Bible time, gameline, crazy theme nights, etc. Meetings begin from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 25 at the church and continue through April. For more information call the church at 330-332-0001.

World famous organist will perform in

concert at Salem First Friends Church

SALEM - World famous organist, Hector Olivera, will be in concert at 7 p.m. Sept. 21 at the First Friends Church, 1028 Jennings Ave.

Olivera will perform on the Roland Electronic Organ and make it sound like a full orchestra, big band, jazz band, and pipe organ.

Even human voice sounds will be heard along with multiple instruments. Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased by calling the church at 330-332-0001.

Drive-thru ham dinner will be served

at First United Methodist Church

COLUMBIANA The Columbiana First United Methodist Church will hold its drive-thru ham dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 17 at the church. Cost is $7.

Chicken and gravy over biscuit dinners will

be served at Ellsworth Presbyterian Church

ELLSWORTH - Chicken and gravy over biscuit dinners will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 29 at Ellsworth Presbyterian Church, 11171 Akron-Canfield Road (Route 224).

Dinners include mashed potatoes, vegetable, dessert and beverage.

retreat Sept. 15 at residence of Rabors

CANFIELD - Calla Community Church will hold its annual retreat on Sept. 15 at the home of Don and Debbie Rabor, 30474 Tower Road, Salem.

The worship service with Pastor James Houston begins at 11 a.m. A luncheon, corn roast and an afternoon of games and fellowship follows. The public is invited.

celebrating 'Back to Church Sunday'

LEETONIA - Leetonia First United Methodist Church at 50 Lisbon St. is celebrating "National Back to Church Sunday" on Sept. 15. A worship service begins at 9:45 a.m. All are welcome.

The "chicken drive-by" dinner will be served from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 19, or until sold out.

The meal consists of a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7.

SALEM - Allegheny Wesleyan College will be in revival Sept. 17-22 with the Rev. William Cope.

The Victory Trio will provide special music. Services will be held at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday through Friday with Mary Braun as speaker.

Evening services begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Presentation by Dr. Clark will be

offered Sept. 28 at Villa Maria Center

VILLA MARIA, Pa. - "The Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities in Light of Catholic Social Teaching," a presentation by Richard D. Clark, Ph.D., will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 28 at Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center in Villa Maria, Pa.

Dr. Clark, the director of the Peace, Justice and Human Rights Program at John Carroll University in Cleveland, will share personal stories from his experience with the Genocide International Network.

Drawing on Catholic Social Teaching, he will focus on how working together, people can prevent genocide and mass atrocities.

A portion of the proceeds from this lecture will be donated to the InterReligious Task Force in Cleveland. Cost is $7 person, or $12 with an optional lunch.

Vendors needed for craft show to be held Nov. 16 at the St.?Jude Activity Center

COLUMBIANA - St. Jude Women's Guild is sponsoring its annual St. Jude Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 16 in the St. Jude Activity Center, 180 Seventh St.

The show features handcrafted and homemade items, a Chinese auction, bake sale and prize raffle. A lunch counter offers a varied menu including homemade vegetable beef soup.

LEETONIA - The Leetonia United Methodist Church at 50 Lisbon St. will hold its monthly "chicken drive-by" from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday or until sold out.

The meal consists of a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7. Proceeds will be used for the new roof for the church.

Author will speak Wednesday at

North Lima Mennonite Church

NORTH LIMA - New York Times best selling author, Don Piper, will speak at at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive.

He is the author of "90 Minutes in Heaven - A True Story of Death and Life." According to the press release provided, "on his way home from a church conference in 1989, Piper's Ford Escort was struck head-on by an 18-wheeler.

He was killed instantly - pronounced dead by four sets of paramedics. But God worked a miracle and sent him back to a broken body."
