West Branch soccer sweeps Columbiana

West Branch 7, Columbiana 0

BELOIT - The West Branch girls soccer team had no trouble with Columbiana, shutting out the Clippers, 7-0, Saturday.

Melinda Trimmer led the Warriors (4-3-0) with three goals, an assist and a save, while Erica Johnson, Halee Biery, Maddie Pidgeon, and Maddie Heverly each had a goal. Biery, Bailey Polinori, and Amanda Tilley also had an assist each. Lauren Martig had four saves, and Lea Bock had one save.

Sara Nutter would have the most effort from the Clippers with two saves.

Columbiana travels to United on Monday. West Branch travels to Carrollton on Wednesday.

BOYS

West Branch 6, Columbiana 1

BELOIT - Alec Schopfer scored two goals in leading the West Branch boys soccer team past Columbiana, 6-1, Saturday.

Matt Heffinger, Dustin Greenawalt, Fritz Schlueter, and Casey Ruthrauff added goals for the Warriors. Kyle Zeigler had two assists. Heffinger, Nick Sams, Josiah Ross, and Colby Briceland each had one assist. Chipper Tuel had five saves.

Drew Makosky scored the only goal for the Clippers.

Columbiana hosts United Local on Monday. West Branch hosts Carrollton on Tuesday.
