MINERVA - C. Clifford Carpenter, 78, of Minerva died Thursday at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 27, 1934 in Leon, W.Va., a son of the late Joseph and Phoebe (White) Carpenter.
He was a welder for many years, retiring from Gregory Industries where he had worked from 1982-2001, and had also worked for Morgan Engineering and MaComber's.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alma (Robinson) Carpenter, whom he married Dec. 5, 1955; a daughter, Bonita (Campradt) Manning of Salem; a son, Dennis Carpenter of East Canton; a sister, Martha Wallace of Canton; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Carpenter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva with Chaplain Larry Karlen officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery.
