SALEM- Virginia L. Cummings, 96, of Salem died at 6:31 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at her home of congestive heart failure.
She was born Sept. 19, 1917, in Beloit, the daughter of the late Wilbur and Edith (Maris) Hurford. She had a motor route for the Salem News for 20 years and was a housewife.
Mrs. Cummings was a member of East Goshen Friends Church and a 1935 graduate of Goshen High School.
Her husband, Franklin G. Cummings, whom she married in 1939, preceded her in death in 1993. Two sisters, Evelyn Sanderson and Helen Townsend, and a brother, Robert K. Hurford, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, David L. Cummings of Salem; three daughters, Bonnie K. (Robert) Rambo and Linda S. Stroup, both of Salem, and Sandra W. (Ron Sr.) Williams of Sebring; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Baker officiating. Burial will be at East Goshen Cemetery. Calling hours will be held 1 hour before the services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
