By LARRY SHIELDS , Salem News

SALEM - The summer street paving program kicks off this week with seven streets targeted for resurfacing, Service Safety Director Ken Kenst said Monday.

R.T. Vernal Paving of North Lima is the contractor and will be move its paving equipment in Thursday.

Streets to be resurfaced include Fourth, Fifth and Sixth streets from North Lincoln Avenue to Hawley Avenue and Wilson Street to South Ellsworth Avenue and West Wilson Street from South Ellsworth to Newgarden Avenue.

Also, all of Superior Avenue and 250 feet of North Madison Avenue off of East State Street will be rebuilt.

Kenst said the police department will place "No Parking" signs on the streets tonight but North Madison Avenue will not be affected by the ban.

The work is expected to take at least a week and the grinding and paving of each street will take a couple of days.

Kenst said the "No Parking" signs will be removed once the equipment is out of the way.
