Milford Earl Landwert

SALEM - Milford Earl Landwert, 93, of Salem, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at the Salem Community Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Salem, Ohio, a son of the late John Henry and Adda (Lutton) Landwert.

A mechanical engineer, he retired from the E.W. Bliss Co. and also worked at the Salem Public Library for several years. Milford was a member of the Salem First Friends Church.

Milford was a graduate of Salem High School class of 1937 and received a BS of mechanical engineering degree from Youngstown College in 1951.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and received two Purple Hearts.

His wife, Marjorie A. (Zeller) Landwert, whom he married June 22, 1951, preceded him in death on Feb. 19, 2011.

Survivors include an adopted son, Mark A. (Janet) Landwert of San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren.

An adopted son, Monte Landwert; an infant sister, Marie Landwert; and two brothers, Ralph and Alfred Landwert, also preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the First Friends Church in Salem with the Rev. Pete Fowler officiating.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Hope Cemetery.
