SALEM - Gene R. Zeppernick, 77, of Salem, died Saturday at his son's home following a lengthy illness.
Born Dec. 28, 1935, in Salem, he was the son of the late Marion and ArNella (Campf) Zeppernick.
Mr. Zeppernick served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a tool and die maker, in construction, and was a truck driver.
Survivors include his children, Marion "Butch" (Penny) Zeppernick, Tami (Jeff) Bash, both of Salem, and Jeannie (Mike) Burrier of Akron; brothers, Donald (Patricia) Zeppernick of Boardman, Robert (Kathleen) Zeppernick of North Carolina, Richard Zeppernick of Kansas, and John (Barb) Girscht of Deerfield; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy A. Zeppernick.
A memorial gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at AMVETS Post 45, 750 S. Broadway Ave., Salem.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio 44512; or Alchemy Acres Animal Sanctuary, 1859 Depot Road, Salem, Ohio 44460.
Arrangements were handled by the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home of Lisbon.
