SALEM - Mary (Shaffer) Kirk, 85 of Salem, died late Monday evening at her home.
She was born on March 12, 1928 in Danville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Bernard and Leona (Edward) Shaffer.
She was a homemaker, but did have a real estate license, was a clerk at Sears, and assisted her husband with the bookkeeping of his gas station business in Danville.
She has been a resident of the Salem area since 1972, coming from the Danville (Howard), Ohio area. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Howard, Grand Matron in the Eastern Star Utica, Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her husband Floyd in 2001.
Mrs. Kirk is survived by her children, Sharon (Gary) Davies of Homeworth, Steve (Karyl) Kirk of Kansas and Edward Kirk of Texas; siblings, Marilyn (Jay) Nelson of Michigan and Martha "Marty" Shaffer of Florida, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She will be laid to rest with her husband in Workman Cemetery in Danville, Ohio.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 with the Rev. John Ryser officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, Salem.
There will be graveside services at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2 at Workman Cemetery.
