LEETONIA - Kenneth Paul Gratz, 66, of Woodville Road, died unexpectedly early Sunday morning, Oct. 27, 2013 at his home.
Mr. Gratz was born March 21, 1947 in Youngstown, a son of the late Francis and Frances Warren Gratz and had lived here the past 10 years coming from Liberty Township.
Kenneth was a 1965 graduate of Liberty High school. He was a supervisor for over 44 years for Trinity Industries in Girard. He was a member of the New Middletown Farmers and Sportsman Club and a former member of the Vienna Fish and Game Club. Kenneth loved golfing and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a competitive drag racer. He was also an accomplished trap shooter and was at one time, ranked first in the state of Ohio and fourth in the nation in trap shooting. Since his retirement he loved instructing children in trap shooting.
He is survived by his wife, the former Karen Fahndrick, whom he married July 4, 1992; his daughter, Margaret E. (Charles) Gratz-Reynolds of Austintown; his son, William D. Gratz (Karen Lutz) of Mecca; a sister, Frances (John) Eisenhower of Hagerstown, MD; two brothers, Warren (Debbie) Gratz of Boardman and John (Nancy) Gratz of Shreveport, LA; five grandchildren, Samantha, Sara, Sylvie, Sydney, and Tyler; many nieces and nephews; and their beloved dog, Kasey.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Gratz.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. Burial will follow in Columbiana Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
