Fire marshal investigates early morning blaze on Ellett Road

BELOIT - The state fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of an early morning fire on Ellett Road.

WKBN reported crews were called to the fully engulfed home at 2 a.m. Friday and worked through the morning to control the blaze and keep it from spreading to other nearby buildings.

No one was currently living at the home, and the property owner reportedly told Beloit Fire Chief Larry Barnett she had been cleaning there the night before.

Barnett told WKBN a man had been living there until about three weeks ago, and noted arson fires are not common in the township. The last arson fire occurred about a decade ago, according to the report.

Ellett Road is located between U.S. Route 62 and 5th Street.
